employment is a wonderful thing. employment means i join the ranks of my friends with jobs like lifeguarding, teaching, working in pharmacies and office at herb farms and companies that sell and distribute "laboratory systems and industrial safety products". i got a clerical job at a hospital and my duties include admitting patients, some minor accounting, filing patient records etc etc. so ya, i dont feel like such a chump anymore.
even though i just finished my second year of university, i dont feel like i have fully made the transition. i was not ready to stay in the city by myself and i had made the decision to return to my home by the lake to live with my parents for the summer. coming back to the country in search of a job is tedious business. nobody wants to hire a university student - they want to hire the 13 year old that they can pay a lesser wage and who is pretty much almost guaranteed to work the next summer. i sent out 8 resumes but didnt hear a word from anyone until now.
i have been after this job for about 3 summers now and im so happy that i got it. i suppose perseverance pays off. i was so nervous about that damn interview but it all worked out in the end. it was truly a positive experience and im sure future interviews will be even better. so i start next monday and my hours are 8:30 to 4:30. it is the glorified day job!
