sleep is a crutch
insomniac: someone who cannot sleep. i.e. me

yes thats right, since the beginning of december, i've had persistent difficulty in falling asleep each night despite the opportunity to do so. i often lay in bed till 2 or 3 in the morning trying to fall asleep. usually i'm anxious about something. other times i just can't sleep probably because it's become a routine not to fall asleep right away.

i've counted sheep, drank sleepy tea and warm milk, read books and even popped allergy medication to drowse myself off. obviously i try not to take the allergy pills too often but it works. the one thing i'm going to try is turning off my "depression light" earlier. it says only to use it for like 20 minutes a day but i've been using it as a desk lamp for almost 3 years. i'm not sure, why it would start affecting my sleep now... but i'll try limiting how much i have it on.

everybody says, "go to bed earlier" and i'm like, "I CAN'T!" i can't help it. i always want to fall asleep but i CAN'T. i get so exhausted that i actually begin to experience physical pain. and then i cry, and then i usually fall asleep but that was just the allergy meds kicking in.

after several days of this i get so exhausted that i'm just a complete grump and start hating everything and everyone. but the good thing is, usually i get so exhausted that i start sleeping well but as soon as i get rested it starts again.

i've had a few very busy days and have 0 energy, so i think i might be able to sleep tonight. like last night, i feel asleep after 20 minutes!
